I feel that there should be a place that is set aside for new users to irc to learn the basics before they are thrown into the wild free for all that can sometimes be found on any network. Therefore, that is the main goal of #newbies. To provide an enviroment that new users can feel comfortable in while they can also feel free to ask any question about irc that happens to pop into their heads. We try very hard on this channel to keep it as clean and fun as possible. We also try our best to always provide a user with an answer. If there is no one on the channel that happens to be able to answer the question at the time, we will attempt to send you to someone who can answer it for you.
Now that I have gotten the goal of the channel out to you, I would like to also state that we welcome anyone to the channel that is just looking for a place to chat with other irc users without the pressure of feeling like you are being hit on everytime someone says anything to you. There are quite a few *newbies* that have been in the channel basically from the time the channel was started on Dalnet, and I expect that they will be there forever. There are a lot of us out here that feel that once a newbie, always a newbie.
I would like to take up this space to personally thank ALL of the ops on Dalnet #newbies. These guys are what make this channel so special. This is not a one man operation, it takes all of them to keep the channel operating the way that it does. I just happen to be the one that has the title of founder. The 50+ other people are the ones that keep coming back day after day to help out new and old irc users alike. There is no pay for this, other than the thank you that comes from time to time from a user that we have helped. So, let me just say it THANKS GUYS for ALL the time and effort you put into this.
